“My research interests include graduate students’ work-life balance, well-being, and motivation. Specifically, in my doctoral dissertation I aimed to explore the way existing structures such as students’ socialization into their departments and disciplines influence motivational variables (e.g., value, self-efficacy), and how these affect students’ ability to balance their doctoral and social/personal responsibilities in a satisfying manner, as well as maintain their physical and emotional well-being. I hope to contribute to the doctoral education literature by focusing on under-explored issues such as work-life balance using a variety of quantitative and qualitative methodologies, in an attempt to understand the role that such issues play in students’ overall well-being and academic persistence.”
